Lucy is Growing Up

My Lucy girl is growing up, she is not even in kindergarten and she has lost her first tooth. I cant believe how fast time goes when you have kids. It is so hard for me as a mom to watch my kids grow and experience their firsts, knowing that I will never get this time back. Since last Thursday when Lucy lost her tooth I have tried to slow down and really enjoy being a mom and the joy that comes with it. Maybe in the next life we will have perfect recollection of the events in our lives that seem to come and go so quickly.

A Bad Mom?

I love my kids, they are my life. With that being said, I am so glad when eight o'clock rolls around and I send them off to bed. Tonight however, I am feeling extra guilty about sending them off to bed. Do you ever have nights when you have just had enough, and if you don't get them to bed you are going to loose your mind? If Jeff were here he would have read scriptures with them and said prayers, I didn't do this tonight and I feel like a bad mom.

I am putting this post out their in hopes that some of you moms have had these same feelings, and I am not alone.

My Favorites

OK so I got this idea from Kristen. I thought it might be fun to list some of my favorites, because is was fun to read Kristen's.

My favorite season is summer. I cant think of anything I don't like about it. I love the sun, the heat, just everything.
Some of the best things to do in the summer:
1- Work in the yard. If Jeff sees I have had it with the kids he sends me out to be with my flowers. I love my roses and I cant wait to get pruning.
2- Swimming with my kids. I love to see them in their swim suites and smell the suntan lotion on their little bodies. So if anyone wants to join us this summer for a swim we are always up for a day at the pool. In case you are wondering here are some of our favorite pools are Murray, Kearns, Taylorsville, and Lava Hot Springs.
3-The Fourth of July. I usually host the BBQ and I love it. We fire up the grills, my mom makes homemade ice cream, and we have our own fireworks out on the street. If Jim and Kate come up I can guarantee the best show ever.
Those are just three of the best, if you have anything to add please do so.

American Idol. I wasn't into last season and I had forgotten how much I love it. I don't know if it is because I secretly wanted to try out (I am now to old how sad is that), or if it is just the suspense of seeing who will make it. My favorites this year are David Cook and the girl from Mesa I think her name is Brooke, and I call myself a fan. I cant wait for Tuesday nights. As much as I hate to admit it, it was hard for me to go to the temple this past week and miss it.

Josh Groban, am I huge nerd or what? I could listen to him sing all day. I have gone to both his concerts here and they have were the best.

I like to cook, but I love to go out to dinner. I am trying to love eating at home and just like eating out but I haven't yet achieved this. We have been lucky enough to have Jeff's work foot the bill on several occasions so I have eaten at places we would never go. If you get the chance Flemings in the Gateway is fab. I am not a fan of creamed spinach but I could have eaten bowl after bowl. Thanks Jeff's work for letting me eat some great food.

Disneyland with my kids. I went last year without them and it was hard to have a good time. All I could do was think about how much fun my kids would have riding that ride or seeing that character. We took them two and half years ago and it was the best trip to the D-land I have ever had. I rode Dumbo six times, Small World four times and was running to see the next princess.

It is late and I am tired. I am going to give this some more thought and add to it as time goes on. Thanks for putting up with my rambling I hope it was somewhat readable.

Dont Run With Your Hands In Your Pockets

My mom and dad went to close on our house this morning and all went well. Lucy and I had fun in the playroom, and I even got a cookie. When mom and dad finished we went back to the car, it was cold outside so I put my hands in my pockets. I know I am suppose to walk in the parking lot but sometimes I just have to run. As I got to the car I tripped, with my hands in my pockets I had nothing to brake my fall but my face. So all you kids out there listen up, don't run in the parking lot, and if you just have the urge make sure your hands are not in your pockets.

Happy Birthday Whitt

We celebrated Whitt's birthday on Saturday. I wont tell his age, but he and Henry are 50 years apart. For the past few years we have gone bowling and this year was no exception. The lanes were a bit crowded but we got two together and had tons of fun. We also played games in the arcade and I think the kids enjoyed that more than bowling.

Whitt is the best father in law and I love him tons. I have known him for almost fifteen years and he had always been kind and loving. I know he probably wasn't thrilled with his teenage son having a steady girlfriend but he always made me feel welcome whenever I tagged along. When Jeff and I did get married we lived in Whitt and Shannon's basement for our first four years. I would cook dinner for all of us some nights and he was always grateful for whatever I made.

One of the funniest memories I have of living there was when I was eight months pregnant with Henry. Whitt and Shannon were having the missionaries over for dinner and they invited us up to join them. Whitt and I were the only ones home when the elders arrived and he introduced me as his wife. You should have seen the looks on their faces, it was priceless. He told them he was joking and laughed his great laugh.

Whitt has introduced me to Oak City. A city I love but could never live in. I don't know if I have told him how much I enjoy that little town. I look forward every year to Oak City Days. I love the program in the church. It never fails to make me smile. I love the horse shoe tournament, I could just sit and watch them huck shoes all day. Even though I don't like watermelon, I loved sitting around watching people take pieces from the biggest melon I had ever seen and spitting seeds. I can see why you love that little town so much, it truly is a diamond in the desert.

Whitt is a super grandpa. He loves his grand kids and they love him. He wrestles with them, laughs with them, watches whatever show they want with them, and does magic shows for them. Thank you for loving my kids that means more to me than anything.

I hope this hasn't been to sappy. I am so glad that you are part of my life. Thanks for all you do for me and my family. Thanks for raising such a good son. He is the best part of my life and I know that it is because of you and Shannon that he is who he is.

I love you tons and I hope you have a great time on your trip. Think of your winter hating daughter in law as you bask in the warm Mexican sun.

Here are a few pics of our fun time bowling.

The End of Winter is Near

Jenny Baker called us on Thursday and invited us to join them at the park. We excepted the offer and it was so much fun. The kids were so excited to get outside and play. It gave me hope that in just a few weeks it will be spring and that many more trips to the park are in store. Thanks Jenny for getting us out of the house, we really needed it.

Baptism

Henry was baptized on March 1st by his dad. It was a special day and one I hope he never forgets. I hope he realizes what an important step he made in choosing to be baptized. Jeff and I are very proud of him and hope his testimony of the restored gospel will continue to grow.
